For Unit enrolments, the financial details are defined in the following fields:
- E384 Amount charged
- E381 Amount paid upfront
- E529 Loan fee
- E558 acronymHELP loan amount
- E392 Maximum student contribution code.
A single Academic organisational unit extension is defined when the teaching responsibility for the unit offering is not split between Academic organisational units. For example, a student is enrolled in the unit Psychology 101, which is the equivalent of 0.2 of a full year of study and the fee for the unit is $500. The teaching of the unit is managed by the Faculty of Science (E333 Academic organisational unit code 005). The student pays $200 upfront for the unit and takes out a HECS-HELP loan for the rest of the required amount. However, when the teaching responsibility for the unit offering is split between Academic organisational units, the financial details are apportioned according to teaching responsibility percentage for each Academic organisational unit.
For example, a student is enrolled in the unit Physiology 101, which is the equivalent of 0.2 of a full year of study and the fee for the unit is $500. The teaching of the unit is shared equally by the Faculty of medicine (E333 Academic organisational unit code 004) and the Faculty of science (E333 Academic organisational unit code 005). The student pays $200 upfront for the unit and takes out HECS-HELP loan for the rest of the required amount. Two AOU extensions, as detailed in the tables Extension for the Faculty of medicine (E333 Academic organisational unit code 004) and Extension for the Faculty of science (E333 Academic organisational unit code 005), would be required to report this to TCSI.
