What are edit, bulk edit, and override?

Data in the student management system is considered correct and usually does not need changing in Submissions. However, level 2 subscription adds the functionality to edit records in Submissions.

Attention. Changes to data made in Submissions are not made automatically in the student management system. Therefore, data in the student management system and acronym taxi may be different if changes are made in Submissions.

Edit

Edit allows you to change data in Submissions. Then, submitting the changed data to acronym taxi updates the government's data. However, as the student management system still has the original data value, the new value in Submissions is replaced with the value in the student management system the next time Submissions retrieves the data as described in the data flow. Therefore, you may need to inform the administrators to update the data in the student management system. For example, you could download the data to an Excel file and send the file to the administrators.

Override

Override stops values of data edited in Submissions from being changed when data is retrieved from the student management system. Therefore, future changes to the value of the data element in the student management system are ignored and Submissions always submits the override value as described in the data flow.

A complex arrangement for postgraduates exists that the student management system does not support and results in incorrect data being sent to acronym taxi.

Submissions can be configured so that overrides can be applied while editing the data. In such instances, data with the override values are sent to acronym taxi. So, while the data in the student management system is retained, the override values are always used.

Bulk edit

Bulk editing enables the data to be changed across many records simultaneously.

A census date of tomorrow has been incorrectly recorded for a series of off-campus unit records. To avoid scheduled validation failures, which occur after the census date has passed, you can filter the Unit enrolments data group for the off-campus unit records that are impacted. Then, use bulk edit to correct the census date for all the impacted records simultaneously before resubmitting.
