How to add application points types

Points types are defined by the reference data Application points type, which must have In use selected for the points type to be available.

Add an application points type as follows:

  1. Add the units. Go to Reference data Applications Applicant points units. Then, select the button add and define the Code and the Description.

    For example, enter GPA for the Code and the Description for a grade point average.

  2. Add the points type. Go to Reference data Applications Applicant points type. Then, select the button add and define the following:

    Unique value, such as ATAR, that must not exceed the maximum length of the corresponding field in an integrated system, such as a student management system.

    After saving, the value cannot be edited.

    Description that is used to select the points type, such as ATAR.

    Tariff used in the points type, such as Australian tertiary admission rank (ATAR).

    Values are defined in the reference data for Tariff. For more information on the tariff, go to What is the reference data for applications?

    The tariffs are as follows:

    Australian tertiary admission rank (ATAR)
    A percentile ranking between 0.00 and 99.95 that indicates an applicant's relative position to all the students in their age group.
    Grade point average (GPA)
    An average of all of the grade points achieved by an applicant.
    Selection rank
    The applicant's Australian tertiary admissions rank plus any adjustments. For example, an applicant who receives an increase in Australian tertiary admissions rank due to location.
    Weighted average mark (WAM)
    The mark achieved combined with the weighting applied to the unit taken. For example, an applicant that achieved a mark of 70 in a unit with an advanced weighting has a higher weighted average mark than an applicant that achieved a mark of 70 in a unit with an intermediate weighting.

    Minimum and maximum number of points that can be achieved for the points type, such as 0 to 99.95.

    Number of decimal places for the points type.

    Unit of measurement for the points type, such as Percentage.

    The rank order that points types are listed on applications. The points type ranked as 1 is at the top of the list.

    If selected, the entity or field can have the value. If cleared after the value has been selected for the entity or field, the entity or field keeps the value. However, the value is no longer available for selection.
