What is reference data?

Reference data defines the values for desks, admissions programmes, entry points, offers, document types, and so on. For example, the reference data Decision status has records from each status such as Conditional Offer, Reject, and Unconditional Offer. However, as features may make use of various reference data, the reference data for specific features has been grouped by feature.

Reference data is editable or non-editable. Editable reference data must be defined for your institution. Non-editable reference data is defined by Tribal and can be viewed only. Non-editable reference data typically statuses and other system information values.

Reference data for Admissions consists of the following:

Applications
The reference data for applications defines the values that are available for selection, such as the desks, admissions programmes, entry points, offers, and so on. For more information, go to Applications reference data.
Documents
The reference data for documents defines the document types, such as Passport and Transcript. Document types have file types, such as PDF and JPG, that define the file types that can be uploaded for the document type. For more information, go to Documents reference data.

To enable localisation, some reference has fields that can be translated. For more information, go to What is localisation?
