How to add qualifications

For integrations with SITS:Vision and admissions agencies, such as UCAS, qualifications can be imported with reference data.

Qualifications are defined by the reference data Qualifications. Qualifications must have In use selected for the offer to be available.

Pre-requisites

Adding a qualification requires values from the reference data detailed in table Pre-requisites.

Reference data Description
Qualification type The type of qualification, such as an academic qualification, professional qualification, and so on.
Qualification level The qualification level, such as Level 3.
Qualification subject The qualification subject, such as biology or physics.
Qualification mark scheme The qualification mark scheme consists of marks and grades. For example, the mark scheme A level tariff defines the grades A, B, C, and so on.
Validating body The validating body of the qualification, such BTEC nationals and Scottish qualification authority (SQA).

The reference data Validating body requires the values from the referenced data Institution and Accreditation body.

Add a qualification

To add a qualification, go to Reference data Applications Qualification. Then, select the button add and define the information required for the qualification:

Unique value, such as CG3HSC, that must not exceed the maximum length of the corresponding field in an integrated system, such as a student management system.

After saving, the value cannot be edited.

Description that is used to select the qualification, such as City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England.

The description can be translated.

Qualification type, such as Professional qualification.

Values are defined in the reference data for Qualification type.

Qualification level, such as NVQ level 6.

Values are defined in the reference data for Qualification level.

Qualification subject, such as Health and social care.

Values are defined in the reference data for Qualification subject.

Qualification mark scheme, such as City and Guilds level 3 diploma.

Values are defined in the reference data for Qualification mark scheme.

Validating body for the qualification, such as City and Guilds.

Values are defined in the reference data Validating body.

Weight of the points contributed by the qualification, such as 1.0.

Code, provided by admissions agencies, that defines the qualification type and qualification level, such as GN.

Code that defines the qualification for reporting purposes, such as KT.

Optional. Additional information about the qualification for administrative purposes only.

If selected, the entity or field can have the value. If cleared after the value has been selected for the entity or field, the entity or field keeps the value. However, the value is no longer available for selection.
