What's new in Admissions?

The June 2025 (2025.06) release has the following updates:

Applicant portal

A timeline has been added to provide an improved insight of the status of applications, which should help reduce the amount of calls to the institution seeking advise about the status of the application. The applicant timeline requires that applicants have the permission Application - View timeline in the Admissions authorisation area Applications to be displayed.

There are also some visual elements in the applicant portal that help applicants to understand the status of the tasks that they have been requested to perform. Some of those elements were not working correctly and they have been fixed.

The updates to the applicant portal are as follows:

  1. Status label that shows, for example, the applicant has tasks to complete.

  2. Count of notification tasks.

  3. Badge with the number of pending tasks for each application.

  4. Timeline as described above.

  5. All tasks page is showing now all tasks correctly. Filters can show completed and pending tasks.

Document intelligence

Document intelligence has been improved to make the feature more useful, reliable, and easier to support as follows:

Deployment

Deployment capabilities have been improved. The system can now automatically manage the required training data at deployment for document types that require a custom model, such as English language tests.

Extraction validation

For passport verification, a new option allows passport record and Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) data verification to be turned on or off as needed. When discrepancies are detected, an action is automatically triggered for further investigation.

Metrics

Metrics have been upgraded to report on how often extracted data is used to create records. This gives a better insight into the effectiveness of document intelligence. Event logs now include record identifiers to make it easier to trace and troubleshoot issues.

Navigation

Navigation and managing associated documents between clearance checks and passport records on the Identity and immigration tab has been improved. A new record highlighter also helps users quickly locate relevant clearance checks.

Clearance checks status

When a new clearance check is created, the status is now set to New by default.

As example of Machine-Readable Zone (MRZ) validation, the year of birth on the image Hacked passport photo was changed from 1965 to 1969.

Immigration

Staff cannot update the CoE status of an application until the Visa required status is set to Eligible. The CoE status tile on the Identity and immigration tab of an application will only show if the Visa required status is set to Eligible or if a CoE already exists for the application.

The video Immigration shows the Visa required status must Eligible to view the CoE status tile and to update the CoE status.
