What are application points?

Application points are awarded on tariffs, such as UCAS points. Application points can be used in decision making to determine if applicants meet the entry requirements for programmes. The application points used in offers are created in the reference data for application points type.

Tariff

Application points are awarded on tariffs, such as UCAS points. Tariffs have units of measurement, such as points or percentages.

Application points from multiple tariffs can be recorded for applicants that have studied in more than one country. For example, an applicant that has obtained 144 UCAS points in the United Kingdom and a GPA of 3.7 in the United States.

Predicted and actual application points

Application points can be imported with new applications or added to applications manually. Application points that are not yet verified can be added to applications as predicted application points. Predicted application points can be used to determine the initial decision made on an application and are not checked against the conditions of offers. Application points that have been verified, such as by validating bodies or supporting evidence, can be added to applications as actual application points. Actual application points are checked against the conditions of offers in decision making. Changing the actual application points recalculates the application points against the conditions of offers.

The image Predicted and actual application points shows 136 predicted UCAS points and 144 actual UCAS points on an application.
